Everything you need to know about the Kalimat MFL platform, student privacy, and our AI marking engines.

Kalimat is currently optimised for French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Arabic. Our marking engines and generation tools are meticulously aligned with the latest AQA and Edexcel specifications (including 2026 updates) across KS3, GCSE (Foundation & Higher), IGCSE, and A-Level.
Safety is our priority. We use a "Zero-Retention" AI Policy via secure enterprise tunnels. Student submissions are processed for feedback and immediately purged from the AI's short-term memory. Your school's data is never used to train public AI models. Furthermore, all activity is linked to anonymous Privacy IDs rather than personal email addresses.
All AI interactions on Kalimat pass through a triple-layer safety filter. We use explicit academic guardrails to ensure that content is age-appropriate and free from bias. Additionally, our Immutable Identity system ensures that no student personally identifiable information (PII) is ever transmitted to the AI engines.
Our engines are calibrated against thousands of graded MFL scripts. While AI provides a high-confidence "first pass" and detailed feedback aligned with AQA/Edexcel rubrics, we always encourage teachers to use the "Review" function to verify final marks, especially for borderline grade boundaries.
The Modular Task Architect is a premium playlist builder exclusive to Group Managers and School Account Owners. It allows you to create multi-skill assignments (Reading, Listening, Writing) in seconds and deploy them to your class roster. Individual subscribers can use all standard AI tools but cannot broadcast custom playlists to multiple students.
Yes. School and Departmental licences allow you to create unlimited Class Groups. You can manage 7A, 8B, and 11C separately, assigning different tasks to each group via your Teacher Hub and tracking their unique progress in the centralised Gradebook.
To ensure the platform remains blazing fast for everyone, we use a credit system. Each AI interaction (marking an essay or generating a task) consumes 1 credit. Premium memberships include a generous monthly allowance tailored for full-time teaching. Credits reset every month automatically.
No. Students never pay to use the platform. Once you have a School or Teacher licence, you provide your students with their unique Privacy IDs. They simply log in and access the work you have set for them at no cost to the student or their parents.
Kalimat is designed for Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9), GCSE (Years 10-11), and A-Level (Years 12-13). The content generators allow you to toggle between "Foundational" and "Advanced" modes to ensure the vocabulary and grammar are age-appropriate for your learners.
Yes. Since students use anonymous IDs managed by your roster, you have full control. If a student forgets their ID or password, you can view or reset their credentials instantly within the Student ID Manager tab of your Teacher Hub.
Absolutely. Kalimat is a fully responsive web application. Students can complete assignments on iPhones, Android devices, iPads, and Chromebooks. The Assess Your Speaking tool is specially optimised for mobile microphones for seamless homework completion.
Yes, we support departmental invoicing for UK and International schools. Please select the "Pay by Invoice" option at checkout or contact our support team at finance@kalimat.co.uk to set up your account via purchase order.
You will retain access to your premium features until the end of your current billing period. After that, student access to Class Groups will be paused until the subscription is renewed. Your saved data and gradebooks will remain archived for 6 months.
